Initial exam by our avian veterinarian: This beautiful red-phase eastern screech owl presented very quiet and not very alert.  He suffered head injury and an eye injury.  He had some neurologic symptoms - a slow twitch to his head.  His left eye was hit so hard the globe ruptured.  He is non-releasable.  Fortunately we will probably be able to find him a permanent home if he lives.

This little guy is a fighter!  He is eating well and had no further neurological problems.  Unfortunately he is blind in the left eye.  We will try soon to place him in an approved facility.

This little guy is doing well on the glove.  We are hopeful we will find an approved facility that needs him!

This non-releasable bird had found a home, but now is experiencing some health problems.  She is currently in ICU undergoing treatment. Her prognosis is still good to be able to go to her new home!

This screech owl came to ICU because she wasn't eating.  Over the course of a month, she slowly starting eating on her own again.  This bird is non-releasable due to not having her left eye, making her blind on her left side.  As a result of this, she is currently being trained as a education bird and will be sent to another facility after her training.  She is doing great now.  She is eating on her own and continues with her glove training.
